Insula Thermal Plates

Thermal Plates are manufactured with Insula IsoPoly insulating composite. They are built in thicknesses from 10mm to 25mm and are typically used in steel to steel connections between steel end plates. They are versatile and can be orientated both vertically and horizontally. 

          Continuous bolt fixings reduce the thermal efficiency of the connection

With Thermal Plates the bolt fixings between steel end plates and through the thermal plate are continuous and whilst this reduces the thermal efficiency of the connection this may be acceptable provided it has been taken into account whilst the building envelope is thermally modeled.

IsoPoly is a composite material that has been designed, tested and developed by Insula for the specific use as a structural thermal break / plate with properties of high compressive strength and a substantially lower thermal conductivity than structural materials such as steel and concrete. IsoPoly is manufactured by Insula within our purpose built facility to ensure quality control and product consistency.

What distinguishes the Thermal Plates + range is the incorporation of a steel plate bonded to one face of the Insula IsoPoly insulating composite which acts as a deformation plate and allows the thermal break to withstand higher loadings compared to the Thermal Plate range.
